Kalimpong posters seek civic board chief's resignation

SNS, 3 December 2017, Kalimpong: A day after top GJMM leaders, including Kalimpong Municipality chairman Suva Pradhan, announced their resignation from the party, wall posters came up in the town today, which demanded Mr Pradhan step down as the civic body chief too.
The hand-written posters, allegedly pasted on public walls by youths of the Binay Tamang faction of the Morcha reads, 'Suva Pradhan betrayed the Morcha. He has no right to be in the municipal chair:' Another one read, "People didn't vote for Suva Pradhan by looking at his face: since he has resigned from the party, he has no right to stay in the post."
Yet some more posters stuck around the municipality office reads, "He resigned from the party for his selfishness, resign from the post too."
"We don't want Pradhan as even award commissioner, as he had won the Municipal elections from the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha ticket, Now that he has resigned from the party, he has no right to remain on the chair" the posters said.
However, on the other hand, Mr Pradhan has said that other Ward councilors should give him valid reasons for him to step down as the municipality chief.
The development is come even as rebel GJMM leader Anit Thapa of the Tamang camp has claimed support from most of the ward councilors in the Kalimpong municipality and said they would move a no- confidence motion against Mr Pradhan.
Sandeep Kulung, the Block-III coordinator of the Morcha, claimed that despite being in the post for a long time, has not been able to clear garbage accumulated in the town.
"Small things like waste could not be cleared from the town. Moreover we feel that he has been playing politics to save his chair. And his decision to resign from the party is not only a betrayal to the party but also to the people of ward 10," he said.
