Vivek Chhetri, TT, Darjeeling:The vice-chairman of the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration said on Monday that the Bengal government would set up a health centre, labour office and a modified ration shop in every tea garden in the Darjeeling hills.
Anit Thapa, the vice-chairman of the board of administrators appointed by the Mamata Banerjee dispensation to run the GTA, said the government would provide every tea estate with Rs 8.77 lakh to set up a three-storied building.
"The three floors will house a heath centre, labour office and a modified ration shop," said Thapa who is currently on a trip to Calcutta.
Thapa met food minister Jyotipriya Mullick in Calcutta. "Distribution of rations during the 104-day strike had been a problem. The government has agreed to release the due rations soon," said Thapa.
