Gurung banks on NIA probe

TNN, 7 November 2017, DARJEELING: Failing to have his writ run in the Hills, Go-rkha Janmukti Morcha president Bimal Gurung desperately clung to the Centre's ordering an NIA probe into the blasts and arms haul during the Gorkhaland stir, and said he wanted to pin down the role of the state government and its 'cohorts' Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa during this period.

"After getting substantial inputs from the grassroots and party leadership, I am convinced that all the riots, arson and violence that engulfed the Hills from June 8 till date were perpetrated under the supervision of Binay Tamang and Anit Thapa in collusion with the state government," Gurung said fr-om an undisclosed location.

In defence of his claim, he pointed to the state government's reluctance to level charges against Tamang and Thapa while hounding him and other GJM leaders.

Tamang and Thapa refused to comment on Gurung's allegation when contacted over the phone.
