SNS, 31 October 2017, Darjeeling: The police today recovered around 102 pieces of gelatin sticks at Tindhuray area at the State Dwarika Tea Estate (earlier known as Vah Tukvar) in Darjeeling today.
The sticks had been hidden among the tea bushes and they could be a part of the gelatin sticks that had been stolen from Nezy at Pulbazar and had been delivered to Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung, police said here today.
"We had received inputs that gelatin sticks had been hidden in the Tindhuray area in Vah Tukvar (around 12 km from Darjeeling town). When we conducted a search operation, we Found 102 such sticks hidden in the tea bushes at the Shree Dwarika Tea estate there. The sticks weigh around:9.42 kg;' Darjeeling SP Akhilles Chaturvedi said.
"Looking at the gelatin sticks, it could be those that had been stolen From Nazi power plant on 20 July, for which we have information that this consignment had been delivered to Morcha chief Bimal Gurung,he added
According to the police, around 325 kg of gelatin had been stolen from the NTPC site at Nezy in July and that more than 50 kg have been recovered so Far. One stick of gelatin weighs around 292 grams. The police also said that the stolen gelatin had been divided into different parts and one part of it was hidden at the tea garden for further use.
"We will verify from the NTPC if it is the same material," Mr Chaturvedi said.
Earlier on 13 October, around 20 gelatine sticks had been recovered from the Chhota Rangit river as Barnesberg, about 27 km from here.
Morcha youth claim
On the other hand, Morcha youth front general secretary of the Pokhriabong Chamong constituency, Sachin Gurung, today claimed that six Gorkhaland Personnel (GLP) men that had been sent by Morcha leaders like Bimal Gurung, Prakash Gurung and Dipen Malley and that they could be behind the blasts that rocked Sukhia Pokhari on 24 August. "They could also be involved in the unexploded IED that were found in Mirik on 5 September near the house of a TMC Municipality councilor, Poonam Biswa of Ward No 2.
"Being a leader of the youth front of the Morcha of our constituency, we used to get orders from central committee leaders like Prakash Gurung and Bimal Gurung to takeout rallies and meetings under the directions of our party president and leaders like Prakash Gurung and Dipen Malley, six boys had been sent to us, and we were supposed to provide them a place to stay. But we did not know what their intention was, as we just followed the orders. They were all carrying bags. Later, understood that they had come with the intention of detonating bombs at different places," Sachin Gurung said.
According to him, the men met them around 22 August and that he had seen a few gelatin sticks in their bags.
