Siliguri Police nab 2 fake scribes for extorting money from doc

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI, 9 Oct 2017: Two fake journalists were arrested for allegedly extorting money from a local doctor in Siliguri.
For extortion Rs 20 lakhs in disguise of journalist claiming from a national media Pradhan Nagar police arrested Ram Gopal Sharma and Ankita Sharma. Both fake journalists are residents of Uttar Pradesh and are believed to be in relation of brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Doctor Biswajit Dey lodged written complaint at Pradhan Nagar police station on Sunday night.
Dr Dey said that two journalists, claiming that they are from national media, entered his clinic on Friday and demanded Rs 20 lakhs from not exposing the news of his alleged wrong treatment to a patient. On the basis of the complaint, police on Sunday nabbed both the fake journalists from a hotel in Pradhan Nagar area. These two were residing there for the last couple of days. Police are currently checking out whether the two have any previous criminal record.
Ram Gopal and Ankita were sent to jail custody after being produced at Siliguri court.
