Dilip unite call to rivals
"There are many members of different political parties who are sitting in the Opposition and have lost their voices because of Trinamul atrocities. They are being tortured and exploited, especially in rural areas. That is why I appeal to all such workers to join hands with us and contest the upcoming panchayat elections," Ghosh told a news conference in Siliguri at the end of the two-day RSS session.
Ghosh claimed many leaders of other Opposition parties in the rural bodies were in touch with them and some had already joined the BJP.
The BJP leader said the party would field candidates in all seats across the state and give Trinamul a tough fight.
"We have already started our preparations for the rural polls and will hold a meeting here tomorrow (Sunday). Similar meetings would be held in Calcutta and other places from October 31," said Ghosh.
Sources said discussions would be held on local issues, selection of candidates and prospective new entrants.
Mukul dilemma
BJP leaders, both at the state and national levels, are maintaining a cautious approach over the possible induction of Mukul Roy.
While national leaders like Kailash Vijayvargiya have been asserting that it is the Bengal unit that will have to make a recommendation before inducting any member, state party president Dilip Ghosh has said he has nothing much to do unless Roy speaks about his decision.
