CPM team to meet injured in hills

TT, Siliguri, Oct. 5: The Darjeeling district unit of the CPM today said it would send a delegation to the hills to meet those injured in the recent Gorkhaland agitation and asked the Centre to invite Bimal Gurung to tripartite talks.
"Both the BJP and Trinamul are indulging in politics by exploiting the sentiments of hills people with an eye on the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 polls. We don't approve of politically motivated moves. Our delegation will only meet common people and those who were injured during the agitation," Asok Bhattacharya, a state secretariat member of the CPM and the Siliguri MLA, said here today.
The CPM is yet to finalise the itinerary, sources said.
Bhattacharya also said: "The Centre and the state government should call a tripartite meeting as per the accord of the GTA to resolve the impasse in Darjeeling. More importantly, the talks will not yield any result if Bimal Gurung, who still enjoys the support of a majority of hill people, is not involved in it." #Asked if the CPM delegation would meet rebel Gorkha Janmukti Morcha leader Binay Tamang, he said: "We don't want to talk to the stooges of the state government."
