BJP supports development of Gorkhas... Bimals call to welcome BJP leaders was ignored by GJM supporters

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 4 October 2017: BJP is in favour of solving the problems of Gorkhas but only in terms of development, said BJP state chief Dilip Ghosh. While addressing a press conference Ghose evaded a volley of questions asked by reporters in Kalimpong. He even said its not a debate but a press conference. 

BJP state chief was here in Kalimpong at Marwari Palace as chief guest of Dushera Milan Samaroh organised by Dushera Milan Samaroh Samity. He was shown black flags by members of JAP at Main Road and Damber chowk and Binay Tamang faction of GJM at Marwari Palace.

Answering a question whether BJP supports the demand of Gorkhaland or not, he said "Gorkhaland is not our demand it is their demand, if Gorkhaland problem is solved, then it will only solve the problem of 15 lakh Gorkhas but there are 1 crore plus Gorkhas in the whole nation, what about them? will they be accommodated in the hills? is it practical? so it is their demand and the government will listen to them and do whatever is possible".

He further said, "We respect Gorkhas and want their protection and development as Gorkhas have contributed in the security of the nation. BJP is a national party and it thinks in the wider interest of the nation. Assam has 25 lakh Gorkhas and they have nothing to do with Gorkhaland as they will not be accommodated here. It is sentimental issue of the hills and the state has much to do in this issue to solve the problem but the state government is not willing. If there was no state then BJP could have solved it within a minute.

Objecting the visit of BJP chief and MP Dr. HB Chhetri of JAP said that they were silent when there was problem in the hills and now they are visiting us when its over, its their master attitude to suppress us and our demand, we have to raise our voice against this attitude.
Not a single person of GJM was present to welcome the BJP chief though Bimal Gurung GJM chief made a call to welcome them, and it was for the first time that. SS Ahluwalia, MP didnot visit Kalimpong though it was declared that he too was coming to meet the hill people. 
On the same day, Kalimpong branch office of the GTA Secretariat was inaugurated by Sanchabir Subba, member of the Board of administrators of GTA. While addressing the press Subba said, "GTA is in function and is to be in function for the development and maintenance works works, continuing of the ongoing departmental office works and other processes in the GTA area for the public welfare as well as for the demand of Gorkhaland. Gorkhaland is in our blood and heart it cannot be sold, bought or crushed. We will fight to solve the dream of  Gorkhaland through GTA".
