Second rail track fixed
TT, Siliguri, Sept. 8: The Northeast Frontier Railway said the second track between Telta and Sudhani stations in Bihar had been temporarily restored today for train movement.
Around 12.30pm today, a trial run was conducted on the second track with a goods train running between the two stations at 10kmph.
P.J. Sharma, the chief public relations officer of NFR said: "We expect to start movement of passenger trains along this track by September 10. The track has been certified accurate to run goods train at 10kmph."
The restriction on the speed will remain in force till permanent repairs are carried out, NFR sources said.
The 60m stretch of two tracks had been lying suspended since August 11 and was the only stumbling block to the restoration of train services between the Northeast and the rest of the country.
On August 29, the other track was restored and passenger trains movement along the track started on September 2.
NFR officials said they would introduce eight more pairs of trains from September 16.
