
Binay Tamang rules out chances of splitting Morcha
Prashant Acharya, BAGDOGRA: Morcha’s general secretary Binay Tamang ruled out the possibilities of splitting his party and said it’s a rumor. He said that being a founder member of Morcha that was created in 2007 has no chances of splitting.
Tamang was briefing media persons at Bagdogra airport on Thursday morning after returning from Kolkata by attending bipartite meeting on 29th August at Nabana with chief minister Mamata Banerjee.
Tamang who is also the chief coordinator of Gorkhaland Movement Coordination Committee (GMCC) said, “I am a member of Gorkha Janamukti Morcha and will remain forever, Morcha’s ideology is with the people’s demand that is Gorkhaland and will stick to it. We will carry our movement in a democratic form and demand for the peace and normalcy in hills and plains.”
Tamang said that he is against the violence in the hills and recent blasts that occurred in Darjeeling and Kalimpong. He said legal action should be taken against the people involved in the bomb blast after proper investigations.
When asked about the future course of action he replied, “I have called an emergency meeting at Kurseong, the central committee members those who will attend the meeting will be briefed about the outcome of the meeting held at Nabanna and future course of action about the movement.
Huge police force deployed at the airport guarded Tamang and escorted the convoy. Thousands of supporters from various parts of hills had arrived to receive Tamang but were not allowed to enter the airport premises.
