Police, along with SSB occupies Bimal's school in Darjeeling

SNS, DARJEELING, 14 AUGUST 2017: Darjeeling police, along with one company of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) occupied the Kanchanjunga Public School (BPS) at Vah-Tukver in Darjeeling today.

According to sources, the school, considered a pet project of Gorkha Jan Mukti Morhca (GJMM) chief Bimal Gurung, was being frequented by the police since the past eight days.

The policed finally sneaked in by breaking the lock of the school today, it is learnt.

Earlier, a case has been filed against the school on grounds that it was built on leased land belonging to the Sheer Dwarika Tea Estate. There are also allegations that money from the MPs' fund and NHPC have been pumped in to school.

A notice has been pasted in the school, addressed to the manager of the Sheer Dwarika Tea Estate, which reads, "In view of the incidents of arson and armed attack on the general public and government officials and the violent situation due to the bandh being enforced by local political parties, please facilitate the use of land mentioned above along with buildings etc thereon, including government property built out of funds of MPLAD and NHPC, by security forces."
