Gurung lobs funds barb
TT, Calcutta, Aug. 3: Gorkha Janmukti Morcha chief Bimal Gurung today said certain "political and apolitical" organisations were collecting funds from across India and abroad in the name of Gorkhaland and raising questions on the hill leadership.
Gurung's written statement comes on a day The Telegraph reported that there was an acrimony between members of the Gorkhaland Movement Coordination Committee and Delhi-based Gorkhaland Sanjyukt Sangharsh Samiti's supporters.
The incident happened at the venue of the GMCC's meeting in the Capital on Tuesday evening.
The Morcha and most of the hill-based political parties are constituents of the GMCC. The Samiti is not a part of the GMCC.
Without taking anybody's name, Gurung said: Some political and apolitical organisations are collecting funds from across India and abroad in the name of Gorkhaland and are holding meetings at five star hotels to fulfil their self-interest. They are raising fingers at sincere leaders to make the agitation directionless. It has also come to our notice that some anti-movement activities are also being done."
