Gorkhaland issue to be raised in the Parliament by Andhra Pradesh MP

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 10 August 2017: Dr Vara Prasadarao Velagapalli will be raising the issue of Gorkhaland in the Parliament today. Dr Velagapalli, an MP belonging to YSR Congress from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh assured the team of Jan Andolan Party (JAP) in Delhi.
JAP youth delegation led by Pankaj Chhetri met Dr. Vara Prasadarao Velagapalli at his residence yesterday. He is a scholar having the degree of M.Sc., Ph.D. (Biochemistry), M.A. (U.K.) and also a former Civil servant (IAS) and a towering personality in the South Indian Politics.
Chhetri informed KalimNews that Velagapalli assured the JAP team that he will raise the issue of ongoing Gorkhaland agitation in the Parliament today itself. Though he was already well aware of the Gorkhaland movement, he keenly listened to the JAP youth delegation and assured them that he will support this demand of separate statehood. Chhetri said, "He was deeply concerned about the deteriorating health conditions of youths in the indefinite hunger strike for past 19 days and opposed internet ban in the hills and was worried that schools are closed for more than 60 days now."
"These are several issues and prompt action is required to resolve it". Sonam Lama another JAP member said. " He was so touched to hear our plight that he immediately asked his PA to do all the needful so that the issue can be raised in the Parliament today", added Lama.
Another member of the delegation Arpan Gurung said, "so far we have met various MPs and everyone has given positive response to support our issue but Vara Prasadarao's approach was very encouraging and he instantly addressed media as well".
