Miscreants in Siliguri threw goods from a private vehicle......Say goods carrying in hills not allowed

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI, 15 Jul 2017: Various political parties including social organizations in Siliguri have strongly condemned the incident of Friday afternoon when some miscreants of Siliguri allegedly molested an elderly woman, attacked her vehicle, scattered all food items that was being carried to hill.
A video of the said incident has become viral after it was circulated in social media showing a women crying and praying to the local miscreants not to throw the goods.
A group of people stopped the vehicle, leaked the air of the tyres, and threw all the goods (eatable items) from the dickey of the private vehicle at Bidhan Road.
Miscreants warned her, “There is no rule of carrying goods to the hills, we shall not allow it and no one can carry from here.”
The woman joined hands, requested that the goods are being taken for domestic purpose and not for sale, since hill is strike since 30 days and facing shortage of foods so came here to buy, she cried a lot but no one came in favour of her.
BJP Siliguri president Ratindra Nath Bose condemned the incident and demanded for safety and security for the people buying goods in Siliguri for hills. “No one has rights to stop anyone carrying goods to hills and the state administration should take strict action against such miscreants, said Bose.
CPM leader and former MP from Darjeeling Saman Pathak said, “This is too much and the administration and police is totally failure to provide safety for the hill people visiting Siliguri. Despite of several incidents about vandalising vehicles and stopping goods to carry in hill police is unable to trace such miscreants.”
Abhiraj Subba, Youth Congress leader said, “Now it’s time for us to come forward to catch such miscreants and hand over to the police. Silguri has really become unsafe for the Gorkhali people, after seeing the video I felt very sad, police can take actions and arrest the miscreants by seeing the video footage.”
