Pooja Mehta, WION, Kolkata, Jul 14, 2017: Maoists from neighbouring country have infiltrated Darjeeling, claims intelligence report submitted to the Calcutta High Court.
The information was revealed in an affidavit filed by the West Bengal Police with the Calcutta High Court.
The West Bengal Police, in an affidavit filed in the Calcutta High Court, cited an intelligence report claiming that Maoists from neighbouring country have infiltrated Darjeeling and are planning to attack government property and officials.
The court was hearing a PIL filed in connection with the ongoing agitation in the hills demanding more paramilitary forces.
The high court directed the centre to deploy four companies of paramilitary forces within 48 hours.

The Centre reacted saying "four additional companies of CRPF are being sent to maintain law and order in Darjeeling and Kalimpong".
The affidavit further adds that in the last 31 days of agitation spearheaded by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM), the state has incurred a loss of Rs 355 crores.
"The total loss due to destruction of government properties, loss of revenue, loss (due) to closure tea gardens, tourism, transport etc. has been estimated to be Rs 355 crore in the districts of Darjeeling and Kalimpong," the affidavit read.
The affidavit also said that the state administration organised a peace meeting on June 22 under the chairmanship of the additional chief secretary, home and hill affairs department, but the meeting saw no representation from members of GJM or any of the other hill parties.
The GJM along with other hill parties like GNLF, ABGL, JAP and others have been demanding a separate state of Gorkhaland.
The strike led by the GJM entered into its 30th day today. So far seven GJM supporters have been killed in the agitation and hundreds of its supporters and policemen have been injured.
So far, 11 companies of paramilitary forces and three columns of the army have been deployed.

Which intelligence agencies, the same one which listed agricultural equipments, bows and arrows, or the one in which the horrible CM claimed that the agitation was getting help from NE insurgents?

The Waste Bengal Govt is so pathetic that it can stoop to any level to brand the patriotic Gorkhas as anti-nationals.
Can one person(bengali) tell where one instance in which any Govt representative has ever visited the REAL MARTYRS be it all the by gone wars or the Kargail War or for that matter the number of Gorkha soldiers killed in Kashmir till now? You cannot, you know why? Because you have always looked down upon us, always treated us like 2nd class citizens.
These so called intelligence agencies does not see the number of illegal Bangladeshis settled in doars and siliguri but they are able to find fictional links between the on going agitation and the Maoist from Nepal.
