Ajay Dahal denies implicate charge made by the state government
KalimNews, Kalimpong, 11 July 2017: Ajay Dahal United Gorkha Revolutionary Front (UGRF) chief has refuted the allegation of the state police ans submitted a memorandum the government officials.
State government has accused him of dealing arms and ammunition for GJM. Recently in a report submitted by the intelligence department of state police to the state government it has stated that Ajay Dahal is suspected to be involved in procuring arms and ammunition to GJM .
On the basis of the report released by the government at Navanna on 27 June and widely printed and published in different print and electronic media Dahal has submitted a memorandum to the Joint Secretary of Home Affairs of the Union government of India and also to the state officials. In the memorandum Dahal has mentioned that he fears that it is a conspiracy of the state government to arrest him in innocence.
About a decade ago Dahal spearheaded an arms struggle for Gorkhaland and was arrested but later he was acquitted by the court and was leading a simple life. He has stated that he the allegation is totally false and a conspiracy. Dahal has lately joined the Gorkhaland Movement Coordination Committee (GMCC) for Gorkhaland.
The Intelligence report submitted to the CM had mentioned that GJM has procured huge cache of sophisticated firearms-ammunition from Bhaktapur in Nepal and has kept those in two hideouts at Sukhiapokhri close to the Nepal border at Pasupati, and at Gorubathan along the border of Kalimpong and Dooars.
The report also states that the key person dealing with the arms-ammunition is Aneek Rai, a hardliner of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, now actively associated with the Gorkha Liberation Army (GLA), a little known armed insurgent group formed to fight for Gorkhaland.
It also states that Ajay Dahal who was the founder of the now dormant United Gorkha Revolutionary Front, is also suspected to be involved in this.
Another report states that there are two persons who are playing a key role in fuelling the agitation for statehood from behind. The first name is Ajay Dahal, a retired commando officer of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), who is believed to be operating sitting at Bhaktapur in Nepal. The police report has mentioned a person named Anik Rai, who, intelligence officers believe, is acting as the medium between Dahal and GJM.
The Intelligence report has, however, maintained that due to pressure from various social and civil organisations of the Nepali community spread all over India, GJM and GLA are unable to resort to an armed agitation as yet. Rather, they are being compelled to opt for a long drawn out democratic agitation so to win the sympathy of other communities across India.
In his memorandum Dahal has stated that previously he was wrongly accused in various cases, charging under serious IPC section and imprisoned on judicial remand for one year, later released on bail and finally acquitted by the court and declared not guilty.
He has accused the state government of trying to defame and include his name in such cases whenever there is resurgence of Gorkhaland movement. Dahal has stated that he is being wrongly represented by the police and there might be a conspiracy to arrest him once again.
