Sikkim truck vandalised, goods looted

Prashant Acharya, EOI, SILIGURI, 28 Jun 2017: Miscreants today afternoon attacked a Sikkim number goods truck, thrashed the driver and his son and looted the goods that were being carried to Singtam.
Eyewitness in anonymity informed that goods truck bearing registration number SK 01 D 1202 had started from Khalpara in Siliguri after carrying food items towards Singtam. When the vehicle was passing through an underpass near Indian Oil Corporation area a group of people forcibly stopped and started breaking the window panes, pelted stones, thrashed the driver and his son and later looted the goods.
According to the sources the consignment loaded in the truck was of Ram Dev Uday Shankar of Singtam.
Soon after the incident NJP police rushed to the spot and later informed that the matter will be investigated.

KalimNews: A report adds that three more Sikkim bound goods trucks were attacked near IOC gate in NJP area and vandalised. 
The trucks bearing registration number SK 01D 0954, SK 02D 0675 and SK 01D 3548 were attacked and its drivers were verbally threatened. They were asked not to enter Bengal as their chief minister has supported the Gorkhaland demand. Meanwhile the incident was reported to the SP of East Sikkim and and the same was reported to AASP of NJP and they were escorted by the police safely.
In protest of the attack from Thursday all trucks will not travel to Siliguri from Sikkim said Mingma Sherpa, president of Sikkim Truck Drivers' Association. He also said that STDA also demanded arrest of the miscreants and a thorough enquiry of the incident.
