Iqbal Ahmed |
TT, Calcutta, June 8: The CBI today summoned Trinamul MLA Iqbal Ahmed for questioning in connection with its probe into the Narada payoffs case.
"Iqbal Ahmed has been asked to appear for a round of questioning on June 10 at our Calcutta office," a senior CBI officer said. "He has been called because he features in the Narada footage."
Iqbal, the brother of Trinamul MP Sultan Ahmed and Calcutta deputy mayor, is the first Trinamul leader to have been summoned for questioning in the Narada case.
"He was shown to have received Rs 4 lakhs in cash from the sting operator, who promised to pay a further amount of Rs one lakh to him the next day (17.4.2014)," states the FIR lodged by the CBI against the two-time MLA.
"In another file he was shown to have accepted Rs 5 lakhs for himself and Rs one lakh on behalf of Subrata Mukherjee. He was also heard making a call to Sri Abhishek for a meeting...."
