Kailash seeks CBI probe in baby case
TT, Jalpaiguri, June 1: BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya today demanded a CBI probe into the alleged sale of babies from a Jalpaiguri orphanage.
"The state government is trying to include my name in connection with the illegal sale of infants from a home in Jalpaiguri. But we demand that the case should be investigated by the CBI so that it will clear who was really involved in the case," he said.
The owner of the NGO running the orphanage has been arrested in connection with the case. A local BJP leader, Juhee Chowdhury, too has been arrested for alleged involvement.
"If the government has any proof of my involvement in the infant trafficking case, they should submit it," he said.
Vijayvargiya was also asked about Trinamul MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, who has been released on bail in connection with the Rose Valley case.
The BJP leader refused to make any comments on the issue.
Vijayvargiya is touring north Bengal from Thursday. He will hold a district committee meeting in Jalpaiguri and attended one in Lataguri today.
He will leave for Dinhata in Cooch Behar district on Friday.
