GJMM rally yields a duck; many do not turn up

SNS, KALIMPONG, 7 JUNE 2017: The Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GMM) took out a rally protesting against the state government's three-language policy despite chief minister, Mamata Banerjee's clarification on 5 June from Mirik but it was unfortunately a flop as expected number of people did not turn up.
Sources said that an effigy of Mamata Banerjee was made today, but GJMM supporters neither took it out nor nor did they burn it and the reasons are not known.
Approximately, 100 people were present in the procession, sloganeering 'CM go back, Hill TMC hai-hai, and assembled in Dambar Chowk for a meeting. The president of GJMM backed students' wing Tenzing Bhutia expressed his disappointment as the expedited number of people didn't turn up for the protest rally.
As promised, the GJMM will continue with their procession till tomorrow.
The GMM, however, through their speeches are trying to turn the language issue to influence the civilians on their attachment with their overall `Gorkhaland' movement. They (GJMM) believe that the chief minister is strategising like the policy made by Bhutan's 'one dress, one language' rule, "Bengal is creating a conspiracy to stop Gorkhaland's. agitation, by introducing their language here. They are trying to hinder our statehood movement because in 1953-56 a committee was formed which detailed that a state can be formed through the prominence of a regional language, ever since we have made Nepali language a weapon to fight for Gorkhaland" said Tenzing Bhutia.
Bhushan Taming, the general secretary of students' wing later alleged the CM has come to the Hills to lure people with her monetary power.
