Bar Association deplores Morcha supporter's death; demands inquiry by apex court judge

SNS, KALIMPONG, 19 JUNE 2017: The Bar Association of Kalimpong has condemned the death of three Morcha supporters in police firing at Darjeeling.
The association held an urgent meeting at Bar Office which was presided by C.K Kumai, the vice president of Bar Association Kalimpong
Mr Kumai,who had joined the TMC before civic polls, resigned from the party a few days ago.
The meeting observed two minute silence over the death of Mahesh Gurung, Sunil Rai and Bimal Shasankar.
The condolence meeting strongly condemned the unprovoked police brutality by resorting to senseless firing and killing people.
Mr Kumai, while addressing the Press said: 'We condemn the police atrocities and demand immediate judicial inquiry into the firing by a team headed by not less(hail a retired or standing Supreme Court judge,'
He informed that the meeting condemned the baseless statement of the government of West Bengal equating the peaceful agitation for creation of a separate state of Gorkhaland within  the framework of the constitution of India, within the Union of India, of having sponsored by insurgent and terrorised group of North East. Kumai also informed that the Association supports the constitutional demand for the creation of a separate state of Gorkhaland within the framework of Constitution of India and have suggested a creation of common platform for all political parties, NG0s, individuals, intellectuals and others in their respective capacity.
The house further reached to call upon and request all stakeholders and citizen to maintain and lead peaceful, democratic and constitutional agitation and have appealed everyone to refrain from getting involved in any kind of violence or activities for the achievement of a separate state within the framework of the Indian Constitution.
