Poll dates yet to be announced in Hills

SNS, KURSEONG. 3 APRIL 2017: The particular date for the municipality election in the hills is yet to be announced by the election commission but despite this, different political and apolitical organisations including individuals have started their different preparations as well as selection of their respective candidates for the upcoming civic poll slated to be held in the mid of the May.
Following the same trend, the Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha, (GJMM), party has selected and announced its candidate for the ward no 1 of the Kurseong Municipality.
The GJMM heavy weight leader and GTA Sabha Executive Member from Kurseong, Mr Anit Thapa today announced the name of the retired SBI employee, Mr Brigen Gurung as their candidate for the ward no 1 of Kurseong municipality.
Such announcement was made by Mr Thapa during a foundation stone laying program for the renovation and extension of a Community Hall organized in the premises of Victory school at ward no 1 in the presence of the MLA from Kurseong, Dr Rohit Sharma and senior GJMM and GTA leadership. Mr Brigen Gurung was also present there.
Thapa said that the official announcement of the candidates ate yet to be made by the party for the upcoming election but keeping in mind the desire of the local people and local GJMM leadership of the ward no 1, they have selected Mr Brigen Gurung as the GJMM candidate forward no I. Meanwhile, in his speech, Mr Brigen Gurung said that for the development of their place, they need the help of all the people's support and without their unity and support nothing can be achieved.
Hence for the all round development of the region they need help him every single individual.
Notably Mr. Gurung had joined the SBI Kurseong Branch in the clerical post in 1983 and later in 1st February 2016 he retired as Senior Special Assistant from the SBI Darjeeling Branch.
Before being recruited in the SBI he was earlier a teacher at St. Alphonsus Higher Secondary School as well as Jinglam Tea Estate Junior School. Not only this he had earlier worked as an accountant at St. Josephs College, Darjeeling. Beside this he is a member of various organizations. Not only this, he is currently the President of Natraj Natya Niketan, Kurseong. He has also participated in various plays and dramas as an actor under the banner of Natraj Natya Niketan.
