Narada case: ED registers case against TMC leaders

Narada case: ED registers case against TMC leadersMP | 29 April 2017 12:09 AM | Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has initiated a probe in connection with the Narada sting operation case.
It may be mentioned that this comes when another Central investigating agency, CBI, has already initiated a probe in this connection following a direction of the Supreme Court.
The investigating agency had lodged an FIR against 14 including the 12 Trinamool Congress leaders, a senior IPS officer and an unknown person. The ED, too, initiated probe against the same leaders, who are sitting MPs and MLAs. The ED has initiated the probe under certain sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on the basis of the FIR lodged by the CBI.
According to an official of the ED, they have taken up the probe as there were allegations of money laundering in the Narada sting operation case. They have taken up the investigation to ascertain the money trail. It may be mentioned that the CBI will first have to prove it as a case of bribery and conspiracy.
Moreover, there is minimum possibility of immediate arrest in this connection though both the investigating agencies may summon for questioning as they want to get some information for the sake of the probe.
