CM Mamata to tour Cooch Behar, Alipurduar in April-end
MP | 17 April 2017 | Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is all set to visit Cooch Behar and Alipurduar at the end of April to hold administrative review meetings in both the districts.
She is also said to be attending public rallies from where she will be distributing benefits to people as well.
The state government had taken up several projects to ensure overall development of the districts. Banerjee will be taking stock of the development projects, works of which are going on in full swing in the districts.
Alipurduar is a new district that has been carved out of Jalpaiguri and this is the 20th district of the state that came into existence on June 25, 2014. The state government had prepared a comprehensive plan to ensure proper development of the new district.
Sources said that during her visit, the Chief Minister will be giving emphasis on those projects that have been taken up for the overall development of the newly-formed district including better communication facilities and healthcare system. She will also be taking stock on the progress of the work done in those projects.
Both the administrative officials and police are now busy ahead of the Chief Minister's visit to the two districts.
It may be mentioned that most of the enclaves that came under the Indian Territory in 2014 lie in Cooch Behar.
The state government had taken up several projects including supply of power, construction of roads and distribution of ration cards among the enclave dwellers.
Banerjee will also be taking stock of the progress of the development work taken up for the enclaves.
She will also be addressing meeting with officials who are in-charges of executing the work in the enclaves and would plan the future road map for the overall development of the region.
