Youth detained for taking photos of woman in train
EOI, SILIGURI, 18 Mar 2017: A Cooch Behar resident named Niranjan Das was arrested today for allegedly taking pictures of a young woman in a moving train and posting it on a social networking site without her permission.
According to sources, the woman was travelling in the Padatik Express from Sealdah in Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station with her brother and sister-in-law in the general compartment.
Das is accused of taking photos of the woman soon after the train left Sealdah railway station. The woman, upon realising someone was taking her pictures without her permission, confronted him and snatched his mobile. But she soon found out that Das had already sent her pictures to his friends via a social media site.
When the train reached NJP railway station, the woman and other passengers handed over Das to the Government Railway Police (GRP).
A case has been registered against the accused at the NJP GRP station and he has been arrested on the basis of the woman's complaint. (EOIC)
