Decapitated bodies of kids found

KONGKON K. BORA, TT, Sivasagar, March 2: The recovery of decapitated bodies of two children in a remote part of Sivasagar district in Upper Assam this afternoon has created a sensation here. Both had gone missing on February17.
The bodies have been identified as that of Manoj Bawri, 9, son of Anil Bawri and his cousin Ramesh Bawri, 8, son of Anup Bawri. Both of them were residents of Deoriting Bon Gaon, a forest village.
Sources said the torsos and heads were found in a remote part of Ikorani, nearly 3km from Deoriting under Bokota Nemuguri police station.
"The mutilated bodies were hidden in tall grass on the bank of the Demow river. Both were apparently beheaded," the source said.
Residents suspect that the two children were kidnapped and later offered as a sacrifice.
The site of the incident is about 25km from Demow, which is 22km from Sivasagar. Sivasagar is 360km from Guwahati.
Police and administration officials have rushed to the spot. Local residents gheraoed them and did not allow them to go near the spot demanding strict action against the people involved in the act.
Sivasagar additional superintendent of police (headquarters) Jakir Hussain said the police have picked up a neighbour of the two children.
"Bhaikon Murari, 18, has been picked up by the police on suspicion of his involvement in the murder of the two children. He is also a relative of the two victims and was picked up by the police for interrogation after they went missing," he said.
