Complaint against teacher
TT, Alipurduar, March 10: Father of a Class VII girl today filed a police complain against her math teacher alleging physical and mental torture.
Barin Dey in the FIR said: "On March 8, my daughter Renesa Dey, a student of Newtown Girls' High School, went to her math teacher Shikha Sarkar and requested her to explain one problem again as it was not clear to her. The teacher did not explain and instead tortured Renesa physically and mentally. I took my daughter to a doctor who advised her 10 days' rest."
The girl has not attended school after the alleged torture and her father has appealed to the headmistress of the school to issue transfer certificate to his daughter.
Sreyashi Sarkar, the head teacher of the school, said: "I have talked to the doctor and found out there is no injury mark on the girl's body. I have talked to the math teacher who denied the allegations."
Avaru Rabindranath, the superintendent of police, Alipurduar, said: "We have started an investigation."
Shikha could not be contacted as her cellphone was switched off.
