MEMBERS OF GJMM WORKERS' ASSOCIATION QUIT PARTY.... DEMAND FOR REGULARISATION WAS BEING IGNORED CONTINUOUSLY
SNS, Kalimpong, 24 February 2017: The ruling Gorkha Jan Mukti Morcha (GJMM) in Kalimpong received a big blow as its main frontal organisation today tendered mass resignation from the party.
The Jan Mukti Karmachari Sangathan, a main frontal organisation of GJMM, which has about 950 temporary and pay band workers, today resigned from the party and formed a new union under the name of Pay Band Karmachari Sangathan, GTA, Kalimpong district.
Today, a meeting of the Janmukti Karmachari Sangathan was held at town hall in which many units of different departmental members were present in huge number.
Recently the hospital pay band workers had joined Trinamul Congress after which the strongest temporary employee had seen a split in their union.
"With a one point demand of regularisation, the employees had been raising their voices from the regime of GNLF to GJMM. However, they had been all been playing with our emotions and just using us as per their whims and fancies," said KC Rai in the meeting.
He said that today 950 temporary employees in Kalimpong resigned from GJMM, who has used them as a vote bank till now.
Mr Rai said, "We have decided to stay independent. We will stick to our demand of regularisation."
"Kalimpong is a district which needs many employees. We are experienced and the government should emphasis regularisation of employees first and secure permanent jobs for us," he added.(Source & courtesy:The-Statesman-Siliguri/25TH-FEBRUARY-2017#page/15/1)
