Khas community demands separate development board
The Gurung, Khas and Pahari minority were the development boards announced by the thief minister.
The Pahari minority development board comprises Muslim, Christian and Hindi speaking people of Hills but all the three want separate development board.
The Gurung too have two organisations who are claiming to control the power of the board. Gurung Kalyan Sanskritik Sansthan and All India Gurung (Tamu) Buddhist association have laid claim on the board power.
Meanwhile the Khas board have also started a feud over the power of the board. Kalimpong, which has been the centre point of different boards, has earlier witnessed rows among various tribal organisation.
The Khas board, which is also Kalimpong-centric, has now started their agitation.
The All India Khas Hitkari Sammelan organisation of different sub tribe of Khas community had, after declaration of the board, celebrated in a grand manner at Kalimpong..
Organisational Youth wing Rajen Bhetwal was said to be the chairman of the board by the members but today the another group Khas Janjati Sangh secretary Arun Chhetri addressed a Press meet at reporters Kalimpong office and said the state have formed the Khas developmental board which has should have no mention of any other group going to run the board.
He said one of the organisations is claiming their supremacy over the board which is wrong.
He also stated that no notification from the board members has been published yet so therefore he appeals to all the members to stay organised.
