Bhattacharjee at the Ganashakti event
TT, Calcutta, Jan. 3: Former chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee said "an anti-social element" was arrested today and other CPM leaders demanded action against the "kingpin" and "real culprit".
"(It is) an indisciplined government, a government of anti-social el Mamata was present at a meeting along with Saradha chief Sudipta Sen and Rose Valley owner Gautam Kundu in Kalimpong's Deolo in 2012 ements. An anti-social element went to jail today," Bhattacharjee said at a Ganashakti event this evening, referring to the arrest of Trinamul MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay.
Hours earlier, chief minister Mamata Banerjee had alleged CPM involvement in ponzi schemes and demanded the arrest of Sujan Chakraborty and Rabin Deb.
Left Front chairman Biman Bose raked up the allegation that Mamata was present at a meeting along with Saradha chief Sudipta Sen and Rose Valley owner Gautam Kundu in Kalimpong's Deolo in 2012.
"He (Bandyopadhyay) was not arrested just because he is a Trinamul MP, but because of his deeds. But our question is why is the CBI not arresting the kingpin?" Bose said.
Bengal CPM secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra said: "She had earlier said we are all thieves.... We want the main culprit to be arrested immediately."
Paul custody
A Bhubaneswar court today extended by three days the CBI custody of Trinamul MP Tapas Paul, arrested in connection with the Rose Valley probe.
