Agitators will pay for damages of agitation, property will be confiscated- Mamata Banerjee

ENS, 27th January 2017 , Kolkata: Taking a tough stand against damage of public property, West Bengal Chief Minister on Friday declared that a new legislation would be brought in which losses incurred due to damage of public property would be borne by the agitators and if need be, their properties would be confiscated by the government to make up for the losses.
Her announcement holds significance in the wake of Bhangar agitation in which several police vehicles were burnt and damaged and the public ire in Rasapunja in Bishupur where angry mob set fire to a police outpost.
Speaking during police gallantry award ceremony here on Friday, the West Bengal Chief Minister said that the culture of burning government properties in the name of agitation has to stop. “If you have problems, talk to us, the state government will ensure justice,” she said.
The state has witnessed massive loss of public property over recurring ire of people on hospital over negligent deaths, on police for inability to catch criminals and over government offices during discrepancies.
The Chief Minister also spoke on the social media-incited rumours doing the rounds that have led to several instances of public beatings in several districts of West Bengal. “Cyber Crime department of police is tracking the miscreants and they will be nabbed,” she said.
