Calcutta girl killed in Pune

Antara
TT, Calcutta, Dec. 24: A 23-year-old Calcuttan working with an IT firm in Pune and allegedly being stalked was hacked to death near the western Indian city on Friday night.
Antara Das from Sarsuna in Behala was attacked with a sharp-edged weapon around 8pm on Friday at Tathawade, around 20km from Pune, when she was returning home from work, PTI quoted police in Pune as saying.
She was working in Pune with Capgemini, her uncle Panchanan Das said. The firm provides consulting, technology and outsourcing services.
"We got a call from the police station informing us that she has been admitted to hospital in a serious condition. A youth was stalking her ever since she shifted to Pune from Bangalore in April this year. This youth may have had a role in the attack," Panchanan Das said.
According to the uncle, Antara was planning to move to another paying guest accommodation because of harassment by the youth.
Antara's father, mother and twin sister left for Pune this evening. A Pune police officer discounted the possibility of robbery as the motive as the valuables Antara was carrying had not been stolen.
