BODY OF MISSING GIRL FOUND IN KURSEONG ....

HT, 19 Dec 2016, DARJEELING: The police have found the body of a student from a tea garden in Kurseong.
Akriti Tamang (16) had been missing since November 16. Police suspect she was murdered. Kids while playing on the banks of Ramitey Khola (rivulet) in the Karbia tea estate in Kurseong got suspicious with an unbearable stench filling the air. On closer inspection, they saw a decomposed limb sticking out from under a pile of rocks. The police was immediately informed.
Police then pulled out a highly decomposed body from under the rocks. Tamang’s father identified the body from a ring that she was wearing. Police suspect that Tamang was murdered and the way the body was hidden underneath a pile of huge rocks is a pointer that a group was involved in the act.
The situation was tense in Ambotia tea estate area with the recovery of the body. Local residents demanded a thorough probe and stringent punishment for all involved in the act.
The body was sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital near Siliguri on Sunday for post mortem.
“It was a missing person case earlier. Now, the body of the victim has been recovered. Investigations are on. No arrests have yet been made. We are awaiting the post mortem report,” said L Divya V, sub-divisional police officer, Kurseong.
Tamang was a student of Class 8 of Rama Krishna Girls Higher Secondary School, Kurseong. On November 16, 2016 she left her residence at Ambotia Tea Estate at 7.30 am for school. However, she did not reach school and has been missing since.
On the same day (November 16) her clothes, schoolbag and shoes were recovered from near the spot from where her decomposed body was recovered on Saturday. Police had earlier suspected that it was a case of human trafficking.
