Man apprehended with Rs 90 lakh cash in Naxalbari
HT, 13 Nov 2016, DARJEELING: Darjeeling police on Saturday apprehended a person and recovered Rs 90 lakh cash from the vehicle he was travelling in.
“Since demonetisation, we have been checking vehicles in the district as there are chances of crimes being committed. In the evening a white Hyundai vehicle (WB 74AH0670) was intercepted at Rathkhola More in the Naxalbari area. Nirmal Agarwal, a resident of Kochadhaman area in Bihar’s Kishangunj district, was apprehended with Rs 90 lakh cash in a suitcase and two bags. Investigation is on. The Income Tax department will be informed and he will be produced at the court on Sunday,” said Amit P Javalgi, Superintendent of Police, Darjeeling.
It is not yet clear whether the man was coming from Nepal as the road also leads to Panitanki More bordering Nepal.
