Three minors from Kalimpong found living in Siliguri

24 Nov 2016: Two minor girls and a boy from Kalimpong were picked up in Siliguri this morning by the Bhaktinagar police.
Students of a school in Kalimpong, they said they had left home to look for work in Siliguri. The three had even rented a room for Rs1,500 per month in the Bhaktinagar Police Station area.
Area residents had informed the police about the three kids who appeared to be on their own.
Speaking to the press, Siliguri police commissioner C.S. Lepcha said, “Parents must maintain strict vigil over their children. They should remain alert even when the kids are at home. These children could have been trafficked, but fortunately they were taken into custody before anything of that sort could happen.”

"They had come here from the Darjeeling hills last week and were staying in a rented house. The girls told us that they had fled their homes to avoid a monotonous life. We are contacting their parents," commissioner of Siliguri metropolitan police, C.S. Lepcha, said .
Sources said around 11 girls and boys have been rescued from across the town in the past one week.
Lepcha said the police were issuing a form and houseowners have to fill those up with details of their tenants. "We would appeal to the people to submit details of their tenants at the nearest police stations immediately," she said.
