Three killed in crash
TT, Raiganj, Oct. 10: Three persons were killed when a motorcycle collided with a car on the Raiganj-Balurghat state highway early this morning.
The deceased have been identified as Dipankar Sarkar, 25, and his sister Saraswati, 20, both from Kashibati in Raiganj, and Suman Mahato, 18, a resident of Pirojpur in Kaliaganj, who was in the car.
Sources said the accident took place around 1am, when Dipankar and Saraswati were heading towards Hemtabad on a motorcycle. "They were going to see pandals. At Mirual (10km from here), the two-wheeler had a head on collision with a Tata Indica. The car was on its way to Raiganj," a police officer said.
According to the police and local people, both vehicles were speeding. After the accident, two car passengers and the driver fled the spot.
