Eve-teaser on wheels crushes Class 11 girl

Koushik Dutta,HT, 21 Oct 2016, MIDNAPORE: A student of Class 11 died and two fellow students were injured after an eve-teaser, who was chasing them in a vehicle, rammed into them. 
The incident happened on Thursday afternoon at Mahisadal in East Midnapore district. Madhumita Bag, the student of class 11, died on the spot and Pinki Nayek and Sumita Bag were injured and admitted to Tamluk hospital. 
On Wednesday afternoon, the incident happened at Garughata in Mahisadal on NH-41. At that time, the three girls from Madhavpur of Nandakumar were going for tuition. According to locals, the driver of the vehicle was teasing the girls and chasing them while they were going to take lessons from a teacher. It was not clear whether the eve-teaser rammed the vehicle against the girls deliberately or accidentally. 
After hitting the girls and injuring them, the speeding vehicle fell into a roadside canal.Police said that two persons have been arrested. The cops have also started interrogating the arrested persons. 
Since locals alleged that the miscreants were teasing the girls, the police was also considering an eve-teasing case. 
Sources said Dibyendu Das and Subrata Maity, both from Haldia, had been arrested. They hit the three students when they were driving the vehicle at high speed. 
“The girls were trying to go to a safe place. But before that, the vehicle hit them and one of them died on the spot,” said Tapas Kumar Mallick, a local resident.
