32 CCTV cameras installed in NBMCH
TT, Siliguri, Oct. 28: The North Bengal Medical College and Hospital has installed 32 CCTV cameras in areas prone to clashes between doctors and relatives of patients.
Hospital superintendent Nirmal Bera said cameras had been set up in the emergency area, major operation theatre, superintendent's office, sick newborn care unit, critical care unit, intensive coronary care unit, casualty ward and the orthopedic ward.
"We completed the installation of 32 cameras last week. We want to have complete surveillance on the campus and there are five to eight cameras in each location. The cameras have been operational for the past two-three days," Bera said.
The NBMCH campus is on 161 acres and it has a porous boundary and two unmanned gates.
The state government had allotted Rs 10 lakh for installing the cameras in the hospital compound earlier this year.
The NBMCH authorities said 32 more CCTV cameras would be installed on the premises in the second phase.
