Party sources said that the head of the organisation may soon be replaced. The CM will announce the bifurcation of two chapters within WBCUPA at a state convention scheduled for 7 January, party sources said.
One of these chapters will look after the affairs of the colleges and its teachers, while the other will look after the affairs of the universities and the associated teachers.
Meanwhile, sources confirmed it was decided in the meeting that a committee will be set up consisting of selected members who would be given the charge of monitoring the role of the teachers as well as for formulating guidelines for education policies.
Since the organisation is yet to see its election the committee to be formed at present, will be an ad- hoc one consisting of senior members of WBCUPA.
Though the decision to form this governing committee was hailed by most , a section of the teachers of WBCUPA are unhappy with this formation of the committee as this may curb the freedom and influence that members of WBCUPA enjoys in colleges and universities.
