Police custody for fraudsters

TNN | Aug 14, 2016, KOLKATA: Two fraudsters who had forged the signature of chief minister Mamata Banerjee were sent to police custody for seven days by a Bidhannagar court on Saturday. The duo was identified as promoter Rajiv Ghosh and property owner Jonaki Basu.

Police have also arrested two extortionists - allegedly close to a local Trinamool councillor - from a Gariahat lodge for allegedly trying to extort Rs 5 lakh from a promoter in the Airport area. They were identified as Raju Pal and Chotka from Naranpur and Tetulia areas respectively.

The Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate on Friday had arrested Ghosh and Basu based on a complaint by the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation mayor himself.
