Housewife raped and killed in Malda, neighbour arrested

EOI, MALDA, 13 Aug 2016: A housewife was allegedly raped and strangulated to death by a neighbor who was arrested after the housewife’s deaf and dumb husband identified the accused. The incident took place at Gopalpur village of Anupnagar gram panchayat in Chanchal police station today.

It has been learnt from police sources that Kabita Ghosh, the housewife went to respond to nature’s call early this morning when she was raped and killed. As she did not return after a considerable period of time, her husband Sadhu Ghosh, a daily wage earner went to find her. He then found the body of her wife near the lavatory and claimed to have found their neighbor Shushil Ghosh running away from the spot. Police were informed and a written complaint was lodged by a relative of the housewife.

In presence of the neighbor and police Sadhu Ghosh identified Shushil Ghosh after which he was arrested. Police sources informed that the body of the housewife had marks of beating and her private organs had blood stains too. Abhishek Majumdar, the sub divisional police officer of Chanchal said that one person was arrested in connection with rape and murder of a housewife after the primary investigation.
