CII organises seminar on Kalimpong Prospects & Potential – Way Forward to make Kalimpong a prominent Investment and sustainable development.

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 19 August 2016:Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with District Administration Darjeeling, Government of West Bengal is organizing a Seminar at Sinclairs Hotel in Kalimpong on 20 August 2016 on Kalimpong Prospects & Potential – Way Forward to make Kalimpong a prominent Investment and sustainable development.
Mritunjoy Banerjee Chief Executive Officer of West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries Board & Partho Sharathi Bhattacharya District Officer, District magistrate Darjeeling and Laxmi Limbu Kaushal, Head, CII North Bengal Zonal Office are some of the officers attending the programme along with some prominent experts and entrepreneurs. The event will witness participation of policy maker, Industry Representatives from various sectors, Academician, and Potential Investors.
The programme organised by will start at 10.30 with inaugural and session on Kalimpong Prospect & Potential
It will be followed by plenary session on collective aspiration and shared vision for sustainable development of Kalimpong and thematic discussion experience. Sharing and Prospects in some key identified sectors, MSME, Education & Skill development, Handicrafts, Eco and rural tourism, Health, Agriculture, Floriculture, Horticulture etc are the highlights of the seminar.
Kalimpong has been traditionally known as the centre for trade and commerce, it has immense potential to excite prospective investors from across the nation. Industrialization is the need of the hour in order to bring about sustainable economic development. The sectors that can attract investment are mainly demand and resource intensive in nature, based upon the available opportunities, certain segments have been identified as thrust areas where potential areas needs to be tapped immediately and effectively like MSME, agriculture, floriculture, horticulture, food processing, education & skill development, health, handicrafts, Eco and rural tourism.
The objectives of the seminar are defining sectoral requirements in terms of Infrastructure & Planning (connectivity, water, power and business assistance centre etc); initiating sector based thematic discussion on Eco and rural tourism, agriculture, floriculture, horticulture, food processing, education & skill development, health, handicrafts, MSME entrepreneurship development etc; bringing together various stakeholders in one platform – policy makers, industry members, young entrepreneurs, academician, professionals, NGO’s, media to discuss and interact for way forward.
