
Falling boulder kills Cinchona Manager - 2 dead1 injured in NH10 landslide disaster

KalimNews, Kalimpong, 09 July 2016: 2 people died when falling boulder hit their Maruti Omni near Swetijhora at NH10.
At around 16.50 hr on Saturday a big boulder at Swetijhora landslide area hit and crushed a Maruti van bearing no. WB 74 AC-1463 which was heading towards Siliguri from Mungpoo.
Naresh Kr. Barailly (52) Manager of cinchona plantation Mungpoo seated on the front passenger seat was returning from his office in his van driven by his driver Shyam Khati Biswakarma (27) when a huge boulder loosened by the heavy rain rolled down and knocked the car suddenly. The weight and size of the boulder was such that it crushed almost the entire front compartment and roof and both Baraily and Biswakarma suffered extensive and serious injuries.

Two occupant of the car including Baraily's wife Sabita Baraily (45) sustained injury and admitted in Hospital. Baraily was returning home at Milan More of Champasari in Siliguri from his duty while his wife was returning from Sikkim and availed the same vehicle.
Baraily is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Due to the accident and falling boulders the road was closed for few hours but later cleared by the PWD JCBs.
His dead body after postmortem will be brought to his native home in Mungpoo and cremated there.
