Anti-plastic campaign

TT, Siliguri, July 14: Mayor Asok Bhattacharya today said the Siliguri Municipal Corporation would involve school students in its drive against the use of plastic carry bags in town.
He announced the move after holding a meeting with councillors and civic officials.
"We have decided to intensify our campaign against the use of plastic carry bags across town by involving students. Once students are aware of pollution from plastic carry bags, they will convey the message to their parents and in their localities. It will help us intensify the drive against plastic carry bags," Bhattacharya said.
"Schools can conduct the campaign by hosting competitions in poster writing, debate, quiz and essay writing on the ban on plastic carry bags and impact of the item on the environment," said the mayor.
