"I specially thank all of you. You have given our government a chance to work for another five years. We are overwhelmed)," she said on her first visit to north Bengal after forming the new government.
"I had promised that I would come to Alipurduar to attend the anniversary functions (if I get back to power). I have kept my promise," Mamata said.
"It will be the only district in our state where there will be a centralised administrative building with 36 departments under one roof."
She added: "We have decided to make Jaigaon a municipality and a Rs 100-crore drinking water project has been planned for it."
On Monday, she laid the foundation for a gate to Bhutan.
