30 injured as bus falls into ditch

According to sources, the Gangarampur-bound private bus from Kumarganj carrying 50 passengers fell into the ditch at 7.30am on Kumarganj Gangarampur bypass.
Ashrampara is 14km from Gangarampur.
Police rushed to the spot after being informed by local people and admitted the injured to the Kaldighi subdivisional hospital in Gangarampur. "Of the 30 injured, 27 were Class XII students of Pransagar High School going to Gangarampur from Pransagar for private tuitions," said a police source.
Rupali Khatun, a student from hospital bed, said: "The driver was running the bus at a high speed on a narrow road and lost control while giving pass to a motorbike. "
The inspector in-charge of Gangarampur police station, Samir Dewsha, said: "Primary investigation revealed that the driver failed to control the overspeeding bus while giving side to a motorbike and it fell into the ditch. The driver is absconding and a probe is on."
