Stab suspicion in death

TT, Siliguri, May 2: The 44-year-old son of a hardware trader died of suspected stab injuries near Sevoke Road last night.
Sources said, around 8 pm yesterday, local people found a person bleeding profusely. They identified him as Pinaki Dutta from Hakimpara and informed his neighbours.
"We were in the local club when we came to know that Pinaki was lying injured on Sevoke Road. We found him bleeding and took him to the district hospital where he was declared brought-dead," said a resident of MN Sarkar Road, Chanapatty, Ward 6 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The place is 1km from the spot.
"It seems the victim had been stabbed on the left thigh and he lost a lot of blood," a police source said.
Pinaki used to stay with his father Ganesh Dutta at Chanapatty. His wife is a teacher in a private school here and he had two daughters. Pinaki did not have a regular job and because of some differences with his father, he shifted to a rented house in Hakimpara.
Pinaki's brother-in-law Sourav Bhattacharya, who lodged a police complaint, said: "We don't have any idea how it happened. As far as we know, he didn't have any rivalry ."
An official in the forensic department of North Bengal Medical College and Hospital said: "We have conducted a post-mortem and findings show that the person died due to excessive bleeding from the cut in the left thigh."
Manoj Verma, the commissioner of Siliguri metropolitan police, said a probe was on.
