PR, KalimNews, Kalimpong, 10 May 2016: The week long Vietnamese Film Festival was inaugurated at the India International Centre in New Delhi. The first ever film festival of Vietnam in India brings together the world famous Vietnamese films including Thuong nho dong que (Nostalgia for the countryside) and Dung dot (Don’t Burn It) both directed by the world celebrated Vietnamese Film Director Dang Nhat Minh.
How Vietnam recovered from the devastating onslaughts of the military invasions of America, France, China and Japan and how it has been able to make huge progress in the last three decades was well narrated in the very inauguration function of this Film festival.
On the personal invitation of Thanh Ton, the Vietnamese Ambassador in India Prof Mahendra P Lama had a rare opportunity to interact with Film Director Dang Nhat Minh.
In the course of interaction Prof Lama mentioned that there was absolutely no difference between the settings of the film “Nostalgia for the countryside” where Vietnamese village, rural life and cultural and social rituals were so vividly and attractively captured and narrated and the ones that prevail in the rural areas of Darjeeling and the North East region of India. Prof Lama extended cordial invitation to Dang Nhat Minh to visit Darjeeling and do similar kinds of shootings for his future films.
Shri Minh immediately responded by showing his readiness to visit Darjeeling and the North east region and interact with the local film directors and actors. He said he will consult the Vietnamese Embassy in India make such a trip.
