TT, Siliguri, May 13: State BJP president Dilip Ghosh today said the party would reach the double digit mark in the Assembly when results were out on May 19.
Ghosh, who was here today to attend a party meeting at a private banquet hall at Sevoke Road, said: "After the Assembly polls ended on May 5, we have analysed feedback. Based on that, we can confidently say we will get enough seats to reach the double digit mark. Our party will also be the deciding factor in many Assembly seats."
The BJP leader didn't, however, say the exact number of seats the party would secure and refrained from naming the constituencies.
Asked if the BJP would forge alliance with any party, Ghosh said: "We have decided not to forge alliance with any other political party in Bengal. We contested the elections alone as we had in the 2014 Parliament polls and could win two seats. Even after May 19, we will continue to move alone."
Ghosh, who contested from Kharagpur Sadar, said the BJP would appeal to the Election Commission to keep central paramilitary forces in the state for one more month to prevent post-poll violence.
"There is no law and order in the state. We would appeal to the Election Commission to keep the central paramilitary forces deployed across the state for another month after the declaration of results to prevent attacks on political workers and common people by Trinamul."
He also took a dig at Trinamul and referred to the recent incident in Diamond Harbour, where an ITI student was beaten to death by a group of people at the alleged instigation of a local Trinamul leader.
"We condemn such violent incidents. Trinamul workers are attacking people of other parties in different parts of Bengal after the elections. We apprehend that frequency of such attacks will increase after the results are announced on May 19."
