Momos on wheels
The food chain was launched on the Hotel Paramount premises on Rohini Road near Kurseong town. "The entire world knows our Darjeeling hills for tea. Momo is another product of our region which has the same potential to generate revenue for our nation. “Momo has a global market now and we want to serve the best quality and healthy momo to everyone,” the founder of Momos on Wheels, Tashi Doma Bhutia, said. She added that the Kurseong launch was the first step in the company’s entry in the hills. “The management team is going to launch operations in Darjeeling town also within this month,” Ms Bhutia said.
‘Momos on wheels’ serves different types of steamed Momo through its branded and uniquely designed tricycle carts. One of the carts has been placed at the Paramount hotel premises. Sapan Sarkar, the branch head of Oriental Bank of Commerce, Bardwan Road, Siliguri, inaugurated the tricycle Momo stall at Rohini Road in the presence of famous Nepali writer and poet Man Singh Moktan and social activist and journalist Prashant Acharya. ‘Momos on wheels’ already has been awarded as the ‘best social innovation in business’ and 40 best start-ups of West Bengal by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textile. "Reports say that the global economy needs to create five million jobs per month to employ youths. So it is a huge challenge for the global economy. This project has the potential and target to create and open business opportunities and employment," Bhutia said.
